Cyber 101 Belfast Workshops

Digital Catapult Cyber 101 will help early stage cyber security businesses scale. We want to hear from small and medium-sized cyber security companies that are interested in receiving mentorship, raising capital and accessing a wider network of public and private customers.

*Please note the Open Call for the London workshops has now closed. This Open Call will recruit participants for the Year One Belfast Workshops, and there will be subsequent Open Calls to recruit later participants.

Background

Cyber 101 is a national programme that will run from January 2017 – March 2021.

Cyber 101 is part of DCMS funded activity to grow the UK’s cyber security sector and the capability of cyber security SMEs. This programme is linked to the Develop strand of UK Government’s National Cyber Security Strategy, a series of activities that will be supported by £1.9bn public investment over the next five years.

What to expect?

Successful applicants will be invited to an intensive one-day workshop during which attendees will receive tailored advice on a diverse range of topics linked to establishing a successful and growing cyber security business.

In an open innovation environment powered by peer-to-peer learning and with the support of the mentors, participants will have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of the industry, meet potential clients, develop ideas with customers/users as well as find potential collaborators.

The training is designed to help support cyber security businesses hone their business skills and provide guidance on specific business essentials, such as value proposition design, market validation, sales and marketing, risk management, compliance and digital tools that can help them expand and export.

To ensure the SMEs have a scaling roadmap and are able to continue to build their businesses following the conclusion of the workshop, access to an online learning tool will be provided.

SMEs that successfully complete the workshops and the online content will be shortlisted for an annual Demo Day, which will provide a direct opportunity to pitch to potential customers and investors. The Demo Day will be facilitated by companies with proven records in helping cyber SMEs raise capital, namely The Virtual Technology Cluster Group, The Accelerator Network and White Horse Capital.
