The Digital Catapult Centre Brighton focuses specifically on projects that encourage innovation in both the retail sector and the creative industries, generating value from exploring and exploiting technologies beyond the screen.
Led by Coast to Capital LEP in collaboration with core delivery partners Wired Sussex and the University of Brighton, the Brighton centre is tasked to deliver a range of innovative projects, designed to support startups and SMEs. These projects include the Immersive Lab which allows businesses to access and work with our state-of-the-art VR/AR facilities, and our 5G testbed, designed to help SME’s to generate use cases that benefit from 5G connectivity. The Centre is also partnered around a variety of projects by American Express, the University of Sussex and Brighton & Hove City Council .
It works across the whole Coast to Capital region, which includes Croydon, the Gatwick area, West Sussex and Brighton and has a programme of events that creates opportunities for SMEs, big business, public sector and academia to collaborate and unlock new value. Activities include regular events and workshops on VR, Blockchain and IoT.
Last but not least, this regional centre creates links between universities and business to enable pre-commercial R&D findings in the Digital Catapult technology layers to be converted into commercial market opportunities, which can be prototyped and piloted by startups and SMEs.
